Tanner’s passion is bringing people together to experience the best food that local and sustainable farming has to offer. His previous work as a cook in a fine dining, James Beard award winning establishment, executive chef of a farm-to-table restaurant and most recently as a private chef have helped him develop his craft. Tanner is committed to providing the highest quality ingredients and dishes, while supporting local family farms (Purdon Groves and others) that enrich community health and value. His experience working day-to-day with diverse seasonal menus and dietary needs has helped shape his identity as an innovative and creative chef.
Tanner is excited about showcasing the foods grown at Purdon Groves, educating our guests in preparing those foods, and hopefully, inspiring them to support local farmers and artisans. His passion is bringing people together over great food, whether the environment is a relaxed picnic or a candlelit dinner.
The community created around the Table is sometimes an increased sense of closeness to people you already know. Often it is embodied in the growth that occurs when you enjoy delicious food and conversation with new friends. You may experience The Table at Purdon Groves in a variety of ways:
The Retreat Table Experience - When you stay at The Retreat at Purdon Groves, you may reserve one of the Purdon Groves’ chefs for 1) dinner and breakfast or 2) dinner, breakfast and a picnic lunch. Featuring locally sourced and creatively inspired courses, we promise it will be a one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t forget! Our chefs are easily able to design meals around any food restrictions or allergies. You may also request that Executive Chef Tanner Purdum prepare food on his wood fired oven - an even more memorable event! (Dates and pricing available upon request.)
Chef’s Table Experience - Join us for an intimate (up to 16 guests) meal under the oaks that will leave you feeling inspired, educated and encouraged. We invite you to come sit under the stars with us as we connect over food, wine and conversation. The evening will be highly interactive, with the Purdon Groves’ chef introducing each course, along with the paired wine, and explaining his cooking methods as he prepares, plates and serves.
