Emilie's Story

Over the next month or so we’ll be sharing our stories - what brought each of us to Purdon Groves, what inspires us in our current roles and what excites us about the future.

First up - Farmer Emilie.

After seven years in the restaurant industry, Emilie was ready to take on a new challenge. She took a leap of faith and left her home and career in Atlanta to pursue new dreams. Since arriving in Texas with her pup, Luna, she has rediscovered her love of nature and adventure and is excited to bring that to Purdon Groves.

While her role as Farmer has its challenges (so far, building a greenhouse tops the list), Emilie loves arriving each work day at her garden and greeting the new plantbabies, watching them grow from seeds to strong plants, ready for the dirt or hydroponic towers.

She especially looks forward to harvesting Freckles Lettuce in the next few weeks and Israeli Melons later in the summer. And at least a few of the acorn squash, currently germinating in a seedling tray, will find their way to Emilie’s kitchen for a delicious dinner.

The thing that excites Emilie most is educating people about where their food comes from. She loves sharing the fruits of her labor and love with local chefs and others who value fresh, local, tasty, chemical free produce.

In her free time, Emilie enjoys cooking new foods, riding bikes with her boyfriend and hanging out with her pup, Luna.
